How to report something happening on our network, how copyright complaints work, and how we handle requests from law enforcement. If you are reporting something urgent — an active attack, or material involving a child — email support@ghostnode.gg and put the word URGENT in the subject. It goes to a person.
Reporting abuse
Email support@ghostnode.gg with as much of this as you have:
- The connection address (IP and port) or the server name.
- What you saw, described plainly.
- When it happened, with the timezone. Logs are useless without a timezone and this is the single most common thing missing from a report.
- Evidence — log extracts, packet captures, screenshots, headers.
- How we can reach you if we need more.
We acknowledge reports within one working day. We treat them confidentially: we pass on what the customer needs in order to fix the problem, not who told us. What happens next is set out in the Acceptable Use Policy — usually a notice and a deadline, immediately a suspension where an attack is in progress.
We will tell you the outcome. We will not tell you the customer's identity, and please do not ask — we cannot hand over somebody's personal data because a third party asked for it.
Copyright
We respond to properly made copyright complaints and we terminate repeat infringers.
Sending a notice
Email support@ghostnode.gg with the subject Copyright notice. To be actionable — and to meet the requirements of 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3) if you are proceeding under US law — it needs:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed.
- Identification of the material you say is infringing, precise enough for us to find it — the connection address and the path, not “somewhere on your network”.
- Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, on penalty of perjury, that you are authorised to act for the owner.
We act on complete notices promptly, usually by requiring the customer to remove the material and suspending the server if they do not. We forward the notice to the customer with your contact details redacted unless the law requires otherwise.
Notices go to support@ghostnode.gg, or in writing to our registered office at 66 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NA, United Kingdom. We are a UK company and act on notices under UK and EU law; we have not yet registered a designated agent with the US Copyright Office, and we would rather say so than let you assume otherwise. It does not change how we handle your notice.
Disputing a notice
If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, send a counter-notice to support@ghostnode.gg with your signature, identification of the material and where it was, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed as a result of a mistake, your contact details, and your consent to the jurisdiction of an appropriate court.
We will pass the counter-notice to the complainant. Where the process under §512 applies, we may restore the material after 10 working days unless the complainant tells us they have filed proceedings.
Repeat infringers
Accounts that attract repeated, substantiated copyright complaints are terminated. We keep a record of notices received in order to apply this consistently rather than by mood.
A word about game resources specifically, since it is most of what we see: selling or redistributing somebody's paid script without a licence is infringement, and “it was already leaked” is not a defence. We will act on it.
Illegal content in the EU and UK
Anyone can notify us of content they consider illegal, using the address above. Give us enough to locate it, an explanation of why you think it is illegal, your name and email address (unless it concerns certain offences against children, where you may report anonymously), and a statement that you believe the notification is accurate.
We will confirm receipt, decide without undue delay, tell you what we decided and why, and tell the customer if we acted against their content and how they can dispute it. Decisions are made by people, not automatically.
Law enforcement
We cooperate with valid requests from law enforcement and we check that they are valid. Send requests to support@ghostnode.gg from an official address, on letterhead, with the legal basis and the specific data sought.
- UK requests should cite the power relied on. We disclose where the request is lawful and proportionate.
- Requests from outside the UK generally need to come through mutual legal assistance or a recognised international agreement, or be accompanied by a UK court order. We are a UK company and cannot act on a foreign subpoena on its own.
- Emergency requests, where there is an imminent risk of death or serious injury, are handled immediately and around the clock. Say so in the subject line.
- Preservation requests are accepted and acted on while the formal process runs.
We tell the customer that a request has been made and what was disclosed, unless we are legally barred from doing so or there is a genuine risk to somebody's life. Being asked not to is not the same as being barred.
We disclose only what is asked for and only what we hold. Much of what is asked for does not exist — we do not keep email bodies, we cannot read passwords, and we do not log the content of your game traffic.
Security vulnerabilities
If you have found a vulnerability in our panel or infrastructure, tell us at support@ghostnode.gg with the subject Security. Give us enough to reproduce it and a reasonable time to fix it before publishing.
We will not take legal action against somebody who investigates in good faith, stays within their own account, does not access, modify or destroy anybody else's data, does not degrade the service, and reports promptly and privately. Testing that involves another customer's server, denial of service, or social engineering our staff is outside that and is not authorised.
What we cannot help with
- Disputes inside a community. A ban you disagree with, an argument with an admin, a falling-out between servers — that is for you and them.
- Moderating content we have no legal obligation to remove. We are the host, not the referee.
- Identifying a customer for you. Take it to a court or the police, who can ask us properly.
- Problems on servers we do not host. Check the address before you send it; roughly a third of what reaches us belongs to somebody else.
